We thought we would be the first one to offer you a tournament to start to get the team ready for next year ! It will be over Labor Day weekend (just Saturday and Sunday so you can enjoy the holiday with your families ). It is called "Get Ready for Next Year Showdown". The purpose of the tournament is so you can look at your team for next year – which you probably picked at tryouts in August 2015 – and see what you need to work on over the winter. Or if you're an established team, it will help you get ready for the fall recruiting tournaments. It will be a 4 game guarantee for $395 – 2 games on Saturday and 2 games on Sunday. And we have made it an Eastern National Qualifier for those teams that would like to qualify early for 2015. But there will still be free substitution in the field and you can bat your entire batting order if you like. Using our normal 2 day format, you will play 3 games of pool play and then face the like finisher from the other pool – thus ensuring a very competitive final game for everyone. ( You will probably have two games Saturday and two games Sunday ). And Saturday's games will not start until 11 AM so that the out of town teams will not have to spend an extra night on their hotel. There will be small medals for the top finisher in each pool, but the purpose of the tournament is again so that you can try out girls in different positions in a game format, evaluate your different pitchers, hopefully see some weaknesses on the team, and help see the things you need to teach them in the off-season.
And with ASA changing their registration dates starting September 1, you can register your team ASA at the tournament for only $35, and the registration will be good at all non-qualifying ASA tournaments through August 31, 2016.
Thanks once again and hope to see you in Columbus over Labor Day weekend.
